What’s Special in Apple iOS 11.2.5 Update?

What's Special in Apple iOS 11.2.5 Update

Apple just released the mysteriously named iOS 11.2.5 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to both developers and public beta testers. IOS 11.2.2 was the previous release by Apple and the company gave no reason for breaking the sequential numbering for the very first time in the iOS history. However, you don’t need to be very much excited about this update as wide ranges of problem are currently being reported.

So should you update? Here is everything you need to know about.

Is there something special in iOS 11.2.5?

ios

Apple will automatically prompt the notification on your handset for the update of iOS 11.2.5. But, in case that’s not happening, you can trigger the update yourself by heading to Settings>General>Software update. Apple iOS beta testers will need to unroll their device for the update to show up; particularly if you are running the major new iOS 11.3 beta.

iOS update changes in size (diverse features or fixes apply to various devices) however iOS 11.2.5 is bigger than your standard ‘minor point’ update – circa 50-100MB – tipping the scales at up to 178MB.

Note: If you are running iOS 10 (or even iOS 9), at that point iOS 11.2.5 will roll up the substantial iOS 11 updates into a solitary major upgrade making it tip the scales at a few gigabytes.

No JailBreaker

Truly, loyal jailbreakers should stay away from this one. In spite of Google releasing iOS 11.2.2 exploit details, iOS 11.2.5 is different and there’s no jailbreak as of now accessible for it.

With respect to the underlying iOS 11.2.5 stability reports, there is a great as well as a bad news for the users. The great news is iOS 11.2.5 doesn’t right now have any overwhelming issue influencing a large number of users. The bad news that upgraders are revealing is that it has a surprisingly wide range of more confined ones.

ios-11

These incorporate lock screen issues, inside and out bricking of gadgets, ringtone errors, performance drops, Apple Watch pairing issues, CarPlay issues with Ford and Skoda and degraded Wi-Fi. Definitely, the huge battery life drops revealed as far back as iOS 11 initially launched in September are showing a small sign of abating either.

So What Do You Get?

Although iOS 11.2.5 contains little to make you excited and update (it isn’t necessary like in case of iOS 11.2.2), it breaks the box for minor point releases by having something more than just the bug fixes. Apple’s release note says: “iOS 11.2.5 incorporates support for HomePod and acquaints the capacity for Siri to read the news (UK, Australia and US only). And additionally incorporates bug fixes and improvements.”

Both these features are clear as crystal. HomePod pre-orders start January 26th with a discharge on February ninth so support was required and Siri’s new reading is activated if you ask some information about news of the day by means of a hands-free technique like stating “Hello Siri”. This uses Podcast news and you can browse any semblance of NPR, Fox News, CNN and Washington Post and can be tweaked if you want to get some information about games, music news or business.

Not said in the notes, but worth mentioning is iOS 11.2.5 brings another UI for sound controls in the music widget. This shows all the playback sources exclusively instead of amalgamating them and makes it easy to flip between sources. There is also Voiceover accessibility support with travel destination and AirPod battery levels now ready to be perused out.

Last Words

For the individuals who hold fire, you shouldn’t need to wait for the following update. That will be iOS 11.3 and it is the huge one. It brings the detailed battery diagnostics and clarity clients have demanded ever since the shutdown debacle started well over a year prior.

While long late, iOS 11.3 will also give clients control over how their iPhones and iPads work as their batteries corrupt and forthright warnings when the battery ought to be replaced.

Instant applications are essentially native applications which work like websites. Instant apps are exceptionally helpful that works significantly in getting more users. The need for application installation is eliminated, which in turn eliminates the barrier between applications and web. It runs easily on all Android versions and is additionally simple to share.

Lazy Loading

Many of the times clients abandon the application or website when pictures take too long to load. With lazy loading trend, this would not be acceptable. Now, pictures will be loaded just when turning on the page. Smart, isn’t that so? Bounce rate will decrease and conversion rate will increase with this rule.

AR and VR

Consider the Google and Apple events that occurred this year, both revealed integration in AR and VR. This obviously means next-generation applications, especially the gaming apps are all about VR and AR. The tech experts are expecting to produce revenue of $150 billion by the year 2020.

Edge Computation

The blast of IOT has made an inclination of intuitive computing technologies. Edge calculation is the way out for this. It essentially pushes the information, apps and computing powers away from its centralized point to the logical extremes of the network. A lot of tech giants have just begun putting resources into the hardware and software in edge computing.

Business Bots

The utilization of Chatbots is not in ample nowadays. But, mark my words, 2018 will encounter a gigantic adaption of the same.

Mobile Application Development: The Current and Future Trends

Mobile Application Development: The Current and Future Trends

The growing use of smart phones has emerged the need for mobile application development. In the recent years, the mobile app industry has come up with major rapid innovations and is experiencing a radical transformation. As a result, the use of mobile devices has grown bigger and these devices have become an instant medium to access internet and mobile applications.

Trends in 2017

With the advent of technology, people have extremely become tech-savvy nowadays. As the mobile industry is flourishing, the demand for mobile apps is going pathological. Today, people understand the benefits of using different mobile applications and this describes its importance.

Let’s take a look at some of the top mobile application development trends 2017:

• e Governance App

The government of India is all set to transfer the idea of “Digital India” into reality. The government has recently launched a number of mobile applications ranging from education to healthcare and agriculture to e-governance, and is planning to roll out more of such apps.

• Mobile Apps

Mobile messaging app development is substituting the traditional form of text messaging. We have seen considerable rise in the mobile apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat, Viber and Hike. Earlier, these apps were used only for messaging purposes, but, now, this also offers the facilities of voice calling, video calling and file sharing options.

• Mobile Payment App

Instead of making cash payments at the counter of the store or swiping your credit card, all you need to do is wave your Smartphone or tap it on the machine and your payment will be made. This app will store all the information related to your payments and credit cards. Digital wallet is the latest mobile payment app.

• GPS Powered Apps

Global Positioning System (GPS) apps help in determining the position of a person, traversing from one place to another, tracing the movement of our parcels, etc. Some of the major mobile app development companies focus on producing extremely accurate GPS powered apps that are being widely used across the world.

• Hybrid Technology Apps

These technologies, like any other mobile application, are found in many of the mobile devices. These devices come up with a combination of different web technologies like HTML, JavaScript and CSS. By using this, you can play games or you can connect with the other people over social media. These applications can access certain inbuilt capacities of your device like your contact list, gallery, messages, camera etc.

• Enterprise Apps

These apps are known as business applications that help the organization in solving enterprise-related problems. For example – email marketing system, content management, HR management, messaging and collaboration systems etc. This is the latest trend in enterprise app development, where services are directly delivered to the computers and devices are delivered online.

Future Trends

Mobile device plays an important role in simplifying the routine tasks. The fact cannot be denied that the mobile technology is growing at a rapid pace and the mobile apps have become an integral part of the digital ecosystem. These apps are succeeding to become ubiquitous; so, staying up-to-date with the latest mobile app development trends has become mandatory.

A few mobile app development trends to look out for in the recent future are as follows:

• Full Mobility

The mobile development companies need to consider the full mobility of an app. Besides developing an app, you need to think- Is the app capable of replacing every single desktop operation?

For instance, if you want to build a text editing app, you must validate that users are provides with all the facilities. If you fail to offer any of the functionality, the app will be uninstalled undoubtedly.

The main focus of full mobility is to provide all the facilities to the users on their mobile, so that they don’t have to depend on a PC for any information.

• High Quality Content and Marketing Plan

Inappropriately, the mobile app developers overlook the basic things like content and mainly focus on the technicalities. But, this is not acceptable as users pay attention on each and everything and they want the right information.

Building a marketing app is another step that should be considered while developing an app. Having a proper marketing plan certifies great sales and popularity which in turn results in huge profit.

• High Level Security

People use mobile devices for many purposes like games, entertainment and business. But the question is that how safe the app is? If the app has high level security? But, if the app is secure, it will not function on a public Wi-Fi. So, you just have to balance the security to ensure that apps are safer to use.

• Motion and Location Sensing

Today, most of the mobile devices will possess location sensor capabilities that use more than one positioning method.

Motion sensing apps are mainly used for anti-theft, security, power-saving and games.

Location sensing plays an essential role in games, vehicle navigation, and fitness apps. The onset of indoor location sensing along with mobile applications will make way for highly personalized services and information.

Conclusion:

The mobile application development companies are rising at a fast pace with the changing technologies. In order to survive in such a competitive world, developers must come up with unique and innovative ideas, if they really want to leave a mark in the mobile app development market.

How Mobile App Development is More Than Mere Coding?

How Mobile App Development is More Than Mere Coding

At Seasia, development of a mobile application does not just mean designing and coding, but is a much more involved process, encompassing different approaches, development, quality assurance, delivery and maintenance.

We take this extensive approach as it’s impossible to make a successful product without these aspects. A product can be technically sound, but will fail if it does not offer value to its users or is not needed in the market. Likewise, the inimitable value of the product can be clear, but the product might fail if the user experience is poor and has imperfections.

This is why we thought of sharing an overview of how we approach product development, demonstrating the considerations for a more holistic process can greatly benefit the quality of your product and its ability to succeed in the market.

1. Product Definition

Product definition focuses on determining the goals of the product, mapping business objectives, market and competitor research, and creating a mobile strategy. At Seasia, product definition is completed in an intensive 2-3 day of boarding and project kickoff process, with a clear set of goals together with:

• Identifying the business and technical challenges to be elucidated from a feature standpoint
• Identifying the KPIs and success metrics
• Creating an ordered product roadmap
• Discussing key questions or problems to success

Towards the end of this process, we provide a set of deliverables that include the user personas, journey personas, wireframes/sketches, storyboard, and a visual app pattern.

Our onboarding process works to set the quality and priority of the delivery schedule for the project; ensures that we have a solid foundation to build a successful, in demand product; and allows our squads to make the essential decisions to deliver a great product.

2. Design

Our design process focuses just on the end user. All the decisions are made by keeping in mind the user, which is why mapping out user personas during product definition is so grave. Understanding the user and their needs helps inform design that makes the experience with the app easy and pleasurable.

While designing a product, we focus on building a usable yet aesthetically pleasing mobile application that offers a smooth experience. It does not matter how good the product looks if it has a poor user experience.

From product definition itself, we are able to take insights and innovations we make and apply them visually through a process of ideation, formation, prototyping, and styling.

3. Development

Our development process combines elements of various agile philosophies that allow us to create great apps, reduce risk, minimize downtime, and maintain project velocity. The central doctrines of our development process are described below.

4. Flexible, Squad-Based Development

Flexibility is an essential aspect of agile methodology in theory, but not in practice. Flexibility is important because it lets you shift and adapt to the changing circumstances and project needs without affecting the velocity of the project. The reason why teams struggle with it is for the reason that it needs to be infused straight into the development process, which is not an easy feat.

At Seasia, the arrangement of our development team and the methods we follow are aimed to provide flexibility. For mobile application development, we use squadrons- small cross functional teams that share knowledge, plan together, complete the code reviews, and have an identified capacity that allows us to scale (up or down) within that capacity based on the project needs. There are numerous advantages to use this approach: faster development cycles, seamless knowledge transfer, reduced downtime, and an overall saving in the project risk.

We also make the most of rolling wave planning, which involves adjourning the product decisions until you are in the best place to make them. This allows the flexibility to adapt instead of having to stand by or re-plan a large document with the requirements that was conscripted earlier.

5. Sprints

Sprints are common agile development concepts that involve short development iterations. The purpose of these iterations is to accelerate the development and divide projects into smaller, attainable goals that can be achieved indefinite time frames. This allows the teams to be more productive, more accurate with the time estimations and you don’t waste resources in the event that produces a shift in the objectives of the business.

6. Story Points & Predictable Project Velocity

We plan and evaluate the capacity based on the story points. Stories are small units that define features from a user viewpoint. We allocate values to each story using a points system that measures its intricacy; the more complex the story, the more story points it would be awarded.

The capacity of the Squad is also defined in the story points. Expressively, a squad has a maximum of 25 story points per sprint. This verdict is based on our past projects that have allowed us to determine an unswerving number of story points we have been able to get through in the sprints from our former projects. This system allows us to estimate the time the project will take in the complete the work and maintain the project velocity.

7. Quality Assurance

The quality assurance serves the simple function of keeping the bugs away from the final builds. The QA team at Seasia is integrated with the development throughout the SDLC which helps in reducing delays and bottlenecks and ensures that the defects are corrected as and when discovered.

We use a combination of the testing practices and have a dedicated product team. Furthermore, we use an integrated system that gathers projects, checks for errors, and allocates the application to the product team for test analysis.

8. Delivery

Once the application is ready to be published, we also handle submission processes for the app stores.

For iOS, there is a vital yet overlooked phase that many don’t really consider in project timelines, but certainly should. If done inaccurately, the acceptance into the App Store can take up to a week, though stretched if the submission is overruled.

At Seasia, we also have a product release management system that assembles all the assets, enhances the app listing, and concludes the submission process as per the guidelines of the app store being submitted to.

Finally, looking at your mobile application project afar the scope of development is important to create a successful product. While from a design and technical perspective, the project needs to be sound, you also need a mobile strategy, a clear value, intention, an understanding of your customers, and a process for the testing and delivery. This holistic approach is what differentiates between the failure and success of the highly competing app ecosystem.

Apple Pay is a new mobile payment service offered by Apple in which Apple phones( iPhone 6, 6 Plus) and Apple watch owners can make payment for goods and services using NFC(Near Field Communication) with their devices. Apple Pay is extended to the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s with the Apple watch because it is required to pay with one of these devices which has necessary NFC chip. Apple Pay also lets users make one-tap purchases within apps that have adopted the Apple Pay API. All the devices contain NFC chip where the “Secure Element” of Apple Pay is located, keeping customer information secure. To keep transactions secure , it uses a method known as “Tokenization” which prevent actual credit card numbers from being sent over the air. The upcoming Apple watch will use continual skin contact to ensure payments are secure. Apple Pay will work anywhere NFC-based contact less payments are accepted and the aim is to replace the wallet and prevent the people from digging through a purse/wallet to find credit cards.

How Apple Pay Works :
Apple Pay can be set up in the passbook app where “+” icon in Passbook will allow users to add a credit or debit card . Credit cards are verified in just a few seconds, but some cards require a phone call, app download, or an email to verify a card before it can be added to Apple Pay. Once a card is verified, it is immediately available for purchases both in stores and within apps. Eight cards can be registered with Apple Pay at one time. Each credit card added to Passbook is listed , along with information like billing address, email, and phone number. Tapping on a card offers specific information like last digits of the card number, last digits of the Device Account Number that replaces the card number in transactions, and it also provides contact information for the bank that issued the card.

In a retail store, when approaching a point-of-sale system compatible with Apple Pay, the screen of the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus will light up and open Passbook automatically, where a user can tap on a credit card to be used or pay with the default card. A payment is made by holding an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus near a checkout system that includes NFC, most of which look like standard card checkout terminals within stores. A finger registered with Touch ID must be kept on the home button for a short amount of time, after which a payment is authenticated and the transaction is completed. A completed payment is denoted by a slight vibration, a check mark on the screen, and a beep.

Apple Pay may not be much more convenient than swiping a card, but it’s important to recognize that Apple Pay is still more secure than a traditional card-based transaction. With Apple Pay, a cashier does not see a credit card number, a name, an address, or any other personally identifying information.

Introduction To Apple New Language Swift

Introduction To Apple New Language Swift

INTRODUCTION TO APPLE’S NEW LANGUAGE – SWIFT !!

Swift is a multi-paradigm, compiled programming language developed by Apple for iOS and OS X development that has been introduced at Apple’s developer conference WWDC 2014. This language is designed to replace Objective-C, while working with Cocoa, Cocoa Touch frameworks and existing Objective-C code so far written for various Apple products.

It is built with the LLVM compiler comprised in Xcode 6 beta, uses Objective-C runtime thus allowing Objective-C, Objective-C++ and Swift code to run within a single program.

Apple has now laid the foundation for Swift by advancing the infrastructure of the existing compiler, debugger and framework. The big idea behind Swift is that developers can write their code and see the results in real time; instead of writing line after line of code in a text box, then compile those results and wait to see the end result, as in the old paradigm. With Swift, developers can tweak an algorithm (or a parameter) and watch the changes happen right away in the same coding environment. Thus, letting developers to toy with concepts faster and make what they’re trying to make in lesser time.

Swift is anticipated to be more resilient against specious code due to the following notable features:

1. Swift does not create pointers and other unsafe accesses by default. It does not require header files as well. Moreover, the statements do not always need to end with a semicolon (‘;’).

2. There is no need to use break statements in switch blocks. The individual cases do not fall through to the next case unless the fall through statement is used.

3. Variables and constants are always set and array bounds are always checked.

4. A dot-notation style and namespace system (which is more in common with other C-derived modern languages like Java or C#) has been replaced with the Objective –C’s Smalltalk – like syntax for making method calls.

5. A key portion of the Swift system is its ability to be neatly debugged and run within the development environment, using a read–eval–print loop (REPL).

Other musing and interesting features includes multiple return values, Generics, Type inference, Class-like structs, Trailing closures, Operator overloading. Swift is, in large part, a revisualization of the Objective-C language using modern concepts and syntax.

As the dust settled around the introduction of swift language, Mac and iOS developers still have a plenty to ponder and explore, though many have also come up to Swift after voicing early concerns. Swift got a full-throated roar of appreciation from the thousands of developers as it solves the major concern that a panel of iOS and Mac OS X developers had with using Swift in actual production code specifying that even if the language is still under development today, the apps will not break in the future. For instance; if a Swift app is written today and submitted to the App Store, then not only the app will work well into the future with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite release, rather can target back to OS X Mavericks or iOS 7 with that same app as well. It is possible since the Xcode embeds a small Swift runtime library within the app’s bundle and since the library is embedded, the application uses a reliable version of Swift that runs on past, present and future OS releases.

Lastly, it’s understood that instead of a developing a powerful new language, Apple has actually tried to develop a popular one. Swift no doubt has a lot of features that may seem alien to someone coming from Objective-C, but they eventually make a lot of sense and will be nice to use. For now, we are in the earliest days of the transition from Objective-C to Swift and there will continue to be naysayers.
